What Trace5G records about you, and why. Last updated 13 September 2026.

Your account

When you register, Trace5G stores the username you chose, a hash of your password (the password itself is never stored and cannot be recovered from the hash), and the time you registered. Sign-up asks for nothing else — no e-mail address, no name.

Your runs

For every lab you run, Trace5G keeps a record of the run: when it started and ended, the network type, how many messages it produced, and the cost that was charged to your credit. The decoded trace of a run is kept so you can reopen it from your history. Nothing from your run is shown to any other user.

How the site is used

To understand how the lab is used, Trace5G runs its own analytics on its own server in Frankfurt, Germany. It works without cookies and without any third-party service. For each visit it records:

• the pages you open and the actions you take in the lab (for example that a lab was run, or a capture exported) — never the content of your network or your trace;
• the referring site and any campaign tag in the link you followed;
• your browser, operating system, device type and screen size;
• your country, region and city, derived from your IP address at the moment of the visit. The IP address itself is not stored.

Once you sign in, these visits are linked to your account name, so that the Trace5G team can see how a given account uses the lab — for instance to follow up with someone who has tried it.

Session replay. On the home page, the sales page, the documentation and the lab, Trace5G also records what happens on the page — mouse movement, scrolling, clicks and page changes — and can play it back to see how the lab is used. Anything you type is masked before it leaves your browser; a recording stops after 20 minutes and is deleted after 30 days. Nothing outside the Trace5G tab is captured.

Where the data lives

All of the above is stored on Trace5G's own servers in the AWS eu-central-1 region (Frankfurt, Germany) and does not leave the European Union. The network you build for a run is created on a machine that exists only for that run and is destroyed when the run ends.

Your choices

You can browse the whole site without an account; only running a lab requires one. To have your account and its records deleted, or to ask what is held about you, contact the Trace5G team — a reply follows within 30 days.
